Dreaming of the Beach

fashion

Hi friends,

As the humidity starts to crank up here in Memphis, I am dreaming about hitting up the beach on basically an every day basis (seriously, Memphis is worse than Houston on that front I’ve decided). I am wanting some sun and sand in my life, with a healthy dose of social distancing. Here are some items that I would love to have while having fun in the sun:

Swimsuits/Cover Up:

Aerie Ruffle Longline Bikini Top in Heirloom

Aerie High Cut Cheeky Bikini Bottom in Heirloom

Aerie Longline Triangle Bikini Top in Best Buds

Aerie High Waisted Bikini Bottom in Raw Sienna

Aerie Wrap Halter Bikini Top in Chilly Red

Aerie High Waisted Bikini Bottom in Chilly Red

Aerie Leopard Wrap One Piece Swimsuit

Aerie Ruffle Cover Up

Beach Towel 4 Pack: Thought this was an amazing deal if you’re in the need for new beach towels like we are!

Sun Protection: I adore all of the designs from Tinsley Allison (@tinsleyallisondesigns), but especially all of their headwear:

Tinsley Allison Designs: The Kate Louis Vuitton Knotted Headband-Turquoise

Tinsley Allison Designs: The Kate Tan Gucci Knotted Headband

Tinsley Allison Designs: Landry Ponytail Hat – White

I also mentioned my favorite sunglasses in my All-Time Amazon Favorites post.

Have you been to the beach this year or are planning on going? Let me know in the comments below!

Target Summer Wish List

fashion

Hi y’all,

I have spent some time away from this space to intentionally learn more about what part I can and should play against racism and ways in which I can support the black community, as well as praying for healing and unity in the U.S. With that being said, out of all of the resources and content I have consumed on social media, Alyson Haley’s post, “I’m Angry. Now What? How To Put In The Anti-Racism Work,” has been incredibly helpful to me. As such, if there are any resources you would like to link to in the comments, or any black-owned brands that you would like for all of us to know about to support, please leave them below!

As I have felt throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and now through the protests being held throughout the world, I have been unsure on how to pursue this hobby of mine as I feel both personal (I find creating content for this blog very cathartic), and professional (I hope that I can grow this space into something that I am proud of and can help support my family with some day), pulls to create here. For now, I’m going to continue on until y’all provide feedback otherwise, but know that I am praying for every person that reads this blog (as silly as that may seem on a Target wish list post), and all of the other residents of this amazing planet that we live on.

And, with that, let’s get into some things I’ve had my eye on at Target, but that I have not been able to justify purchasing since I do not leave my pajamas as I continue to be lucky enough to work from home. A girl can dream, right?

Recent Wardrobe Purchases

Like I assume so many of y’all are also doing, I have been taking advantage of all of the online retail sales while I am sheltering in place at home. I am always looking for a bargain, and if there is one thing I can reinforce to y’all to do to take advantage of those deals, it is to check your junk email every day for coupons. You know, that email address that you use when you are required to provide an email at a store checkout. 🙂 We’ve all got one. Staying on top of what deals are available and giving a critical eye to my closet to determine what I actually need to purchase to fill gaps and make some replacements in my wardrobe allowed me to snag all of this for less than $275. Seriously y’all. Those Franco Sarto sandals were $4 and the Bleecker & Bond loafers were $2 because of all of the DSW coupons I used.

Old Navy:

Mid-Rise Linen-Blend Shorts for Women – 4-inch inseam (Black Jack and Chambray Blue)

First-Layer Fitted Cami for Women (Bare Necessity, Black Jack and Calla Lilly White)

My Kendra Scott Collection and What It Means to Me

fashion

Hi friends!

Hope y’all are having a wonderful Saturday. It’s a beautiful day here in Memphis, but since Tyler and I are obviously staying at home today, I’m enjoying the sunshine from our sun room on the couch we have out here and it is LOVELY!

While perusing my Instagram feed yesterday, I saw that Kendra Scott did an Instagram Live (@kendrascott), featuring vintage pieces throughout the history of the brand. It was so neat to watch Kendra show the beautiful designs that helped build her incredible brand and legacy. Having collected Kendra Scott pieces for basically every holiday, birthday and treat myself moment of the past 8 years, the post got me thinking about my own collection and what it means to me.

When I think of Kendra Scott as a brand, I think of every single happy memory associated with a piece of their jewelry. Now, I know that sounds a bit odd, but I am known far and wide in both my family and friend groups as the girl who not only wears an overwhelming amount of jewelry each day, but also that chances are I’m wearing at least two KS jewelry pieces at all times. The brand has always been something that I am passionate about from a philanthropic standpoint as well, as the work that they do to give back to the community from their support of the MD Anderson Cancer Center where my incredible Grandma Jean was treated, to the work they are currently doing to provide over 1 million meals to date through Feed America during the COVID-19 pandemic. (Check out their Everlyne Friendship Bracelet, where 50% of the proceeds go towards the Feed America efforts. I picked up the Dichroic Glass version and it is beautiful).

From my first-ever pair of earrings that my mom surprised me with for my 17th birthday (still swoon over those abalone shell beauties), to the matching earring and necklace set that my husband hid my engagement ring in while opening up Christmas gifts, and the Texas/birthstone charm bangle that some of my best friends surprised me with when we moved to Memphis, my entire, ever-growing collection will always hold a special place in my heart. Here’s a look at my collection, featuring some vintage beauties, custom Color Bar pieces and recent purchases:

What are you favorite Kendra Scott pieces in your collection? And, if you don’t have a piece yet, what’s stopping you?!

All-Time Amazon Favorites

beauty, fashion, makeup, travel

Oh, Amazon…the convenience, the never-ending supply of goodies to search for, the list goes on and on. Below you will find my All-Time Amazon Favorites and why I love them:

  1. A Million Sloths Coloring Book
    • This has been so much fun to relax with these past few weeks. Every page is cuter than the last!
  2. Stainless Steel Gold Band
    • I purchased this on sale a few weeks ago for about $5 (my best Amazon tip is to try and save things in your Wish List so you can be alerted when there is a price fluctuation, as they are constantly changing their prices), and I love it! I’m allergic to so many different types of metals and this one has given me no problems thus far.
  3. Travel Wallet
    • So, so great for travel! I believe this was a recommendation from Alyson Haley and I snapped it up before our honeymoon. The compartment for the pen and all of the receipt pockets are so handy!
  4. Record Player
    • This was Tyler’s Christmas gift two years ago and we have absolutely loved it! This was a recommendation from my friend Matt, who always has this version, and he is the one person you always must trust on a technical purchase of any kind!
  5. Black Sherpa Jacket
    • I bought this during the teddy bear jacket craze about a year ago and haven’t looked back since. So, so comfy!
  6. Makeup Storage Tower
    • I have two of these and they are so worth it. Clean quite easily as well!
  7. Louis Vuitton Neverfull Tote Insert
    • If you have a Neverfull, this insert is a MUST HAVE. So helpful for organization in such a gigantic bag.
  8. Collapsible Water Bottles
    • We used these while hiking in Iceland and they were a game changer. So convenient and took up no space in our suitcases.
  9. Bioderma Micellar Water
    • While you can purchase Bioderma a lot of different places, Amazon is my favorite and easiest.
  10. Camera Backpack
    • Another purchase for hiking in Iceland, this backpack is so nice and protected my camera so well (another Alyson Haley recommendation). My only complaint is that it doesn’t have a compartment to hold a water bottle on the side.
  11. Power Adapter
    • Alyson Haley recommendations strike again on this one. 🙂 We have traveled with this every time we have gone abroad and it works so well, especially with the multiple USB ports!
  12. Mirrored Sunglasses
    • Bought these for our Vegas trip (travel guide coming this week!), and have gotten so many compliments on them!
  13. Black Sunglasses
    • A blogger favorite, these designer dupe sunglasses are my absolute favorites! I’ve got a big head and lots of hair, so the size of these do not intimidate me haha!
  14. Grey Nightgown
    • I hadn’t owned a nightgown in years and decided to pick this up on a whim to wear as cute PJs to a bachelorette party. I’m OBSESSED! It is so soft and comfortable!
  15. Facial Razors
    • These were a Jaclyn Hill recommendation and I love them! I don’t use them on my entire face, just between my eyebrows, above my eyebrows and on my upper lip.
  16. Pearl & Acrylic Hair Clips
    • So fun, so trendy!
  17. File Folder
    • I am a self-proclaimed paper hoarder and this helps keep all of my mess somewhat organized!
  18. Pearl Headbands
    • I love the pearl headband trend so much that I wear one at least 3 days a week now. So chic for work while keeping my hair out of my face!
  19. Silver Cleaning Wipes
    • Honestly, these are my #1 favorite Amazon purchase of all-time. I had no idea they existed until I saw someone recommended them on Instagram and they have brought all of my sterling silver jewelry back to life! I hadn’t been able to wear one James Avery bracelet in particular for years because the oxidization on it was so bad, but now it looks brand new!
  20. Clothing Rack
    • I have a cloffice in our current house since we are low on closet space, so this clothing rack was a must-have! This thing is loaded down with so much stuff and is crazy sturdy.
  21. SPF Moisturizer
    • Amazon is my favorite place to buy this cult-favorite moisturizer I mentioned in my skincare post a few weeks ago!
  22. C Initial Necklace
    • This is a dupe for a much more expensive, discontinued designer necklace and is one of my favorite jewelry pieces that I own.
  23. Jewelry Cleaner Pen
    • I LOVE this jewelry cleaner pen! So easy to use and convenient to travel with.
  24. Laptop Backpack
    • I desperately needed a new laptop backpack for work and this one has been wonderful so far. So many compartments, a great laptop protection sleeve and very sleek.
  25. Fabric Defuzzer
    • Another example of a product that I never knew existed, this recommendation from Katey McFarlan Hellman is MAGICAL. I’ve used it on comforters, leggings, ottomans, you name it!
  26. Missha BB Cream
    • And last, but not least, this Missha BB Cream. This is one of the best tinted moisturizers I have ever used, c/o Jessica Braun.
